La Kunsthaus Tacheles lancia un S.O.S. artistico per salvare la casa d’arte dalla demolizione e successiva trasformazione in centro commerciale. La casa dell’arte Tacheles nasce nel 1907 proprio come centro commerciale, dopo la sua parziale distruzione durante la seconda guerra mondiale, nel 1990 viene occupata da un gruppo di artisti che l’ha resa un punto di riferimento per l’arte contemporanea a Berlino. Un luogo d’incontro per artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo che qui hanno la possibilità di ottenere uno spazio per creare ed esporre le proprie opere in un’atmosfera di libertà creativa e di scambio. Il fotografo berlinese Petrov Ahner ha indetto una vera e propria maratona artistica a sostegno della causa Tacheles nel blog www.isupporttacheles.blogspot.com… inviate contributi!

Fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood went to Buckingham Palace today without her knickers once again and wearing a pair of silver horns.

The style icon caused a stir in 1992 when she collected her OBE from the Queen minus her underwear and twirled round in the courtyard to reveal all.

This time, after she was made a Dame by the Prince of Wales, she shyly disclosed she was knicker-less again, adding: “Don’t ask. It’s the same answer. I don’t wear them with dresses. When I’m wearing trousers I might – my husband’s silk boxers.”

She insisted she would not be spinning around in the Palace to demonstrate this.

“It’s a different dress – that’s why I span around (then). I forgot.”

Today, she said her outfit – a black cap perched on the back of her vibrant orange hair and a black dress with campaign badges and the tiny horns on her head – showed her as an urban guerilla and a Che Guevara figure.

The tiny horns attached to her head were not the sign of the devil, she insisted.

“It’s a fantastic dress with a sort of net stole. My clothes reflect my political feeling.

“I’m supposed to be a bit like a Che Guevara – an urban guerilla, with my cap, this kind of jungle net and a badge for my Active Resistance to Propaganda campaign.

“The horns – we need a new renaissance. We don’t have culture. It’s a pagan symbol. They’re attached by a wire round the back of my head. It’s only the Christian religion that says they’re anything to do with the Devil. They can be a fertility symbol and be about good things.”

Dame Vivienne wore thin lines of bright blue eyeliner over her eyelids and in place of her eyebrows.

Her shoes were black mules decorated with lines of studded metal holes.

She said Charles did not inquire about her undergarments.

“No, of course not,” she remarked. But she did disclose that the Queen apparently found the 1992 incident quite funny.

“I met a man who worked with the Queen and he said she was rather amused by it.”

She added that the Prince said he hoped her award would help her career.

Dame Vivienne said she was delighted with accolade. “It’s so beautiful,” she said holding the scarlet ribboned honour. “It’s such a lovely colour.”

She was joined by her husband Andreas Kronthaler, her elderly mother Dora Swire, and her eight-year-old granddaughter Cora Corre, who is also Malcolm McLaren’s grandchild.

Cora wore a green netted top and blue cap. Dame Vivienne said: “Her outfit is based on mine. She’s a little guerilla.”

Alexander Wang debuts his Fall 2010 Inspiration video, worldwide, through a select number of sites on Wednesday, August 11th at noon, Eastern Standard Time. This is the first time Wang explored film as the medium to express the inspiration and emotion behind the collection. Shot in a deserted building that once stood as a hotel in NYC, the creative team built an abstract atmosphere of fantasy distorting the elements of wind, home, movement and stillness.

Madonna behind bars in Desperately Seeking Susan is such an iconic image to me that when I decided I wanted to make paintings in the early 90’s, that’s where I started from, it was a different image from the one I could find online now, I found it in The Face, in an article about the movie, and blew it up with the Xerox machine we used to make Plastic’s flyers. The image of The Queen of Pop smoking behind bars was at the same time ironic and moving, taking me back to a time when millions of girls dressed like Madonna (the original Wannabes) and the girl was a primeval force not to be stopped, not with “good taste”, not with lack of talent, not with music too dance-y to be really pop, at least for those times. The girl could not be stopped and with nearly a stylist in sight she managed to rip through fashion for a decade at least, with irony and spicy bad taste… I miss that girl and hope she’s happy, wherever she may be… Happy Birthday!

Mi sono detta: forse parlava di veneto come “lingua”… “Morgan non potrà mai cantare in Veneto”, sentenzia Luca Zaia, governatore del Veneto, appunto, intervenendo alla trasmissione radiofonica La Zanzara di Radio 24. Ma poi, riportato sui giornali, la maiuscola mi delude. Veneto vuol proprio dire Veneto. Sarebbe stato meglio, come massima punizione per una “circostanza” che è già un castigo di per sé, obbligare Morgan a una edizione rivisitata di “La biondina in gondoleta”. Poteva essere già un bel castigo… Ma i depositari delle regole della purezza e della salute fisica e mentale, sono esseri duri. Implacabili. Non ho voglia di risnocciolare il rosario delle categorie e delle persone fisiche che sono o sono state nella stessa situazione di Morgan. Tutti sono a conoscenza di tutto. E ogni giorno ne viene fuori una nuova. Un’altra showgirl, un altro giornalista, un’altra rockstar, un altro politico, un altro imprenditore, un’altra escort (ma perché no le chiamano direttamente prostitute?), un altro operaio disperato che magari qualche ragione ce l’ha veramente, per cercare di astrarsi dalla realtà. Non esiste categoria che non ne sia stata toccata. Detesto la droga, anche quella detta leggera che poi leggera non è mai, e chi ne fa uso. In più, ammetto di non avere alcuna comprensione né compassione per chi adopera quella merda. Chi si droga non mi è simpatico. La mia personale posizione non è un deterrente e non pretende di esserlo, lo capisco molto bene, ma tant’è. Credo, però, che qualcosa di definitivo vada detto da parte di chi “ha la parola”. C’è una legge che impedisce ad un addizionato di lavorare? Non credo. Ci sarebbe un PIL ancora più ridotto, dato il numero esagerato di persone coinvolte. Allora perché uno solo? Perché a uno solo viene impedito di espletare il proprio lavoro? La storiella dell’apologia dell’additivo chimico non sta in piedi. È chiarissimo a tutti, anche nel Nord-Est, che l’uomo è caduto in un trappolone. Noi della musica siamo delle anime candide, esserini fiduciosi. Tendiamo a fidarci delle persone, anche dopo delusioni cocenti. Morgan, per una battuta, si è giocato parecchio. E non voglio entrare in faccende personali e dolorose. Stiamo sull’apparentemente “leggero”. Oltre a non poter cantare in Veneto, non potrà fare neppure Xfactor. Mi mancherà la sua passione, la sua fiammeggiante intelligenza e il suo italiano perfetto. Peccato.

You might not know Elias Comfort or remember him from movies such as ‘Elephant’ or ‘Paris, je t’aime’, well to tell you the truth, I didn’t either, but thanks to our ever informative friend at Homotography, I found out that he isn’t just beautiful and naked in Visual Tales magazine, but also an actor, poet, and photographer, which obviously makes the guy a LOT more interesting (well I like a bit of depth in my naked guys, thank you), and that makes looking at the beautiful pictures so much more satisfying, doesn’t it?
