PARIS #1

March6

Boys, I’m off to  Chez Maxim’s (hoping to get to sing La Cucaracha like DV)… Here’s the pics from today… Mabille, beautiful, he’s delightful, the accessories are to die for, Vionnet… loved what Rodolfo is doing, the place was amazing, Cocteau’s house, it has just been sold so they could use it to present the incredibly chic collection, very “luxe”… fur, lace, draping, twists and knots… my fav Vionnet so far… Dior was a bit of a letdown, some great clothes, a bit of romance, but it felt a bit too much for the moment, too… Diorish… after that we zoomed to Vivienne… I loved it, felt there was a lot less gimmick and more incredible cut and beauty, but a lot of people got distracted by the childhood fairytale theme… but then Dame Viv doesn’t need to be “of the moment” or hip, she’s earned the right to be downright kooky and we love her for the force of her kookiness… Lanvin was a standing ovation, I found it beautiful at moments, very “Lanvin copy” at others, great cut, materials, great finale… but  I don’t know… Margiela… I LOVED, it had a force and a meaning, a story and a development of ideas that it had lacked lately… great location, degraded couture presentation… I found a lot to like and will do a piece on it later… have to rush to dinner!
love you
