Qualche tempo fa Oscar ed io siamo andati a visitare il laboratorio di A-lab.
E’ stato interessantissimo vedere come i tre ragazzi creatori del brand sviluppino le collezioni, dal moodboard ai prototipi, in maniera del tutto indipendente. L’atmosfera è energica, creativa, e stimolante. Gioviale e professionale al tempo stesso. Tanto ci sono piaciuti che abbiamo deciso di sottoporli al “FLAMQUIZ” per farveli conoscere.

I have to say I wasn’t much amused by Missoni’s F/W 2010-11 show, and its waterfall of knitwear that looked like something that would have been really avant-garde in ‘78, forgive me for not liking knitwear too much, and being bored to death by the music, but hey, it didn’t look like the mega-editors sitting in front of me were having that much fun either… anyway, forget all that, the show was boring, too much of the same thing even though looking at it again it really did have some great moments, but… This, is, Genius!

Kenneth Anger, the famed underground filmaker has done a Missoni Video Campaign, filming the clan in his own delirious and magical way… it has to be seen to be believed… It’s Art.

Here we are again, it’s almost time to go and lie on the beach for a month or so, here in MilanoFashionLand, but we’re still working, still doing F A S H I O N, and no matter what I said this morning, there’s still news to be told! Fresh from my iPhone, here’s the Moschino and Cheap & Chic pre S/S 2011 collection: Classic Moschino Irony with fun slogans (Love Is In The Hair!…with a hairpins-appliqèd collar!) and details, hairpins become epaulettes and metal combs become medals, old-aunt pearl and lace removable collars make the clsssic LBD ever more versatile, chains and piercings decorate classic Chanel-like jackets, pop-cartoon prints are spalshed on accessories… We obviously love the direction the house has taken and hope it will keep on entertaining us for years to come!

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s summer, and it’s kind of a slow season for fashion news (not that we care too much about those, but they’re still something to think about…) so since I can’t seem to sleep and I don’t want to do anything else that’s even remotely useful, I just thought I’d remind you about my Tumblr page, The Flamboyant, which isn’t in any way an official Flamboyant Tumblr page, just my own personal sketchbook page where you’ll find all sorts of exclusive stuff, like previews, backstage pics and well, ok, yes, sexy boys… (I can’t help liking them and they sort of appear at the bottom of the page…)

Oh darn, I just saw somebody blogging one of my backstage pics (I guess taken from my Flickr page since I posted one that was similar on Tumblr but it wasn’t the exact same shot)… the thief! It really shows you how once you put something out on the Web it’s GONE!

Sabato pomeriggio Andrea ed io siamo andati alla Fondazione Forma a vedere le mostre di Erwin Olaf e di Phil Stern. Per la verità ero molto più smanioso per Olaf (“che moderno”… “che avanti”…) piuttosto che per le immagini viste migliaia di volte di James Dean o del ‘Rat Pack’ realizzate dall’ottuagenario Stern. Naturalmente mi sono ricreduto…

I lavori di Erwin Olaf mi hanno dato un grosso senso di ‘pennica’ (per dirla alla Guzzanti-Funari): li ho trovati un po’ datati… anche se tutte le opere esposte sono state realizzate negli anni 2000, facevano coooosì anni ‘90: immagini frigide, plasticose, fastidiosamente sleek, troppo photoshoppate (lui è stato uno dei precursori del digital retouch, per poi tornare, a quanto pare,  ad una visione più ‘naturale…), con tutti quei riferimenti agli anni ‘50… in una parola ‘Wallpaper’: un giornale la cui estetitca non è mai stata nelle mie corde e che non ho mai veramente compreso a pieno, anche se indubbiamente ha simbolizzato un momento molto preciso nella cultura dell’immagine…

Le foto di Stern sono al contrario tutto ciò che una foto classica può essere: reportagistica , bianca & nera, rubata, fuori fuoco, mossa, con un taglio strano, sgranata… ma tanto più emozionante… beh, poi lui ha avuto anche il vantaggio dei soggetti, e tra Bette Davis in full Baby Jane Hudson e Marlon Brando in full gay icon,  compare anche un giovane Tony Curtis con indosso una mise inquietantemente simile a quella adottata dai giovani ‘top-cool-moderno-avanti-moda’ per l’estate 2010 (bermuda a vita alta, forse un po’ stretti rispetto a quelli odierni, t-shir bianca, calze al ginocchio e stringate)…  a parte la pettinatura (anche se forse…) e la mancanza di un paio di occhiali da sole… la meme chose…

p.s.: non è che io voglia fare la Perez Hilton, è solo la prima volta in vita mia che uso Photoshop…
